about coach niKk
The game of ball has been an incredible tool throughout my entire life. I was able to advance myself academically, travel the country, and it also gave me a sense of direction that kept me striving to become better everyday. My mission is to give back everything this beautiful game gave to me.
I grew up in Mansfield, Texas and started playing ball around the age of 5. Throughout my basketball journey I was truly blessed to have highly accomplished and knowledgeable coaches that molded my game, my training style, and coaching style. I played for elite AAU and Select team ball clubs throughout the Summer and played Varsity my freshman through senior year at Mansfield Timberview high school.
From there I played D1 at the University of Texas at Arlington for two years and then transferred to Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas where I acquired my degree in Exercise Science.
During and after college I coached for a few club programs and was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Texas Wesleyan University for 2 seasons. I then went on to teaching and coaching at the middle school level and high school level in South Grand Prairie, Texas for 5 seasons.
With 10+ years of coaching experience I also worked independently as a skills trainer and sports specific strength and conditioning coach.
When it comes to training I specialize with the point guard and shooting guard positions. My focus is within shooting skills/ building form, ball handling, basketball I.Q, timing/pace, and defensive reads. I am also able to conduct training based around specific offensive sets.
I take pride in having the ability to teach the game for any age level and can tailor skills/coaching sessions from novice to experienced ball players. I currently hold a USA Basketball Gold Coaching licensure and plan on obtaining further licenses through coaching clinics and education in the future.
I bring a fun and encouraging energy to each and every session and I guarantee, if your player comes ready to learn and work hard they will get better and have fun while doing it.
